Action: This resolution was adopted. The Teacher and Other Parish Work RESOLUTION 5, COMMITTEE 4 Memorial 201, page 241, Reports and Memorials Wuereas, It is a matter of good stewardship to make use of the talents of our teachers to the greatest possible extent; and Wuereas, Ordinarily every teacher has a potential for parish service beyond the classroom; and Wuereas, Such parish service benefits both the congregation and the teacher; and WuHerEAs, Our women teachers could perform many of the duties asked of a special parish worker; and Wuereas, It is desirable that our women teachers be employed for twelve months, rather than for nine, ten, or eleven months, as is the practice in many congregations; therefore be it Resolved, That local boards of education be encouraged to study the needs of leadership in the total parish program with a view to achieving a) the best use of the teachers’ talents in the congregations’ total program of parish education; and b) an equi- table distribution of tasks to be performed (so that each teacher achieves his full potential, yet none is overburdened to the detri- ment of his school tasks). Action: This resolution was adopted.
