156 RESOLUTIONS — COMMITTEE 2

Wuereas, The printed page has been a very excellent tool in
the spreading of the Gospel, because no other agency can serve so
effectively; and
Wuereas, The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod has greatly
benefited by the development of Concordia Publishing House; and
Wuereas, Our church has established an enviable record in i
the use of such media of mass communication as the radio and TV
and might well establish a similar record in the use of the print-
ing press; therefore be it
Resolved, That the Mission Boards operating in foreign coun- i
tries appoint a joint committee on literacy and literature which
is to implement the suggestions outlined in the book of Reports
and Memorials, on pages 327—330; and be it further |
Resolved, That this committee consult with Concordia Publish- i
ing House and other interested agencies in the production and wd
distribution of Christian literature; and be it finally oe
Resolved, That the mission boards be encouraged to request the ;
necessary funds from the Fiscal Conference to carry out such
a program.

Speakers Bureau for Furloughing Missionaries
RESOLUTION 3, COMMITTEE 2
Special Resolution

Wuereas, It is desirable to enable our missionaries coming
home on furlough to make the most of their furloughs and to be
of the greatest service to the home church in the bringing of first-
hand information from the mission field to all parts of Synod;
therefore be it

Resolved, That we encourage the office of the Secretary of
Missions to establish a lecture bureau which, after due consultation
with the furloughing missionary, the respective Mission Board, and
a District representative, shall schedule the missionary for rallies,
lectures, and lecture tours.
