New congregations and mission stations have been ed in all sections of the United States and Canada. The de- has increased for space in our official organ to publish news es and reports of important events throughout Synod. The jeress and expansion of Synod’s work call for more frequent iublication in order to secure more adequate coverage of synodical ‘activities than is possible under the present arrangement. _j~. Other Lutheran bodies have long ago established weekly pub- ications, e.g., the Lutheran (ULCA), the Lutheran Standard (ALC), the Lutheran Herald (ELC), and the Lutheran Companion (Augustana). ». Format and size of a new weekly publication, naturally, must be. determined by the staff of the Lutheran Witness and the synod- ical board in charge of Lutheran Witness policy, in co-operation -with Concordia Publishing House. .. I further petition Synod to consider establishing the policy of including a representative of Synod’s Department of Public Rela- tions on the Lutheran Witness Editorial Board. Juiius F, E. Nicketssurc Queens Village, L.1., N. Y. Improvements in the “Lutheran Witness” (Memorial 706) Wuereas, It seems evident that the problem of securing greater readership of synodical publications, particularly the Lutheran Witness, deserves the wider study possible by a synodical committee rather than a committee in a District of Synod; and Wuereas, It appears that this is becoming a more pressing -problem with each passing year; therefore be it Resolved, That the Western District of The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod memorialize the next convention of The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod at Houston, Tex., to appoint a committee to make a thorough study of further improvements in the Lutheran Witness which would increase reader appeal.
