THE CHURCH'S RESOURCES The Lord, who commissions the Church to preach the Gospel to every creature, promises to be with it unto the end of the world. He sends His Spirit to dwell in the Church forever and to bring to its remembrance all things which Christ as its Head has said and still says in the Scriptures. As the Church faithfully proclaims His Word, Christ’s promise, “He that heareth you, heareth Me,” is fulfilled, Luke 10:16. He to whom all power is given in heaven and in earth has promised to grant whatsoever the Church needs and asks in His name. As the Good Shepherd Christ guides and guards the Church through perils and assaults in a hostile world, and the Holy Spirit as the Chief Builder cleanses and sanctifies the Church as the habitation of God. Through the means of grace, the Gospel in the Word and Sacraments, the Holy Spirit calls, gathers, enlightens, sanctifies the whole Christian Church on earth, and keeps it in union with Jesus Christ in the one true faith, and thus directs and enables it to do the will-of God. Where these means of grace are in use, there God builds His Church. Presence of God Means of Grace
