32 MINUTES OF THE CONVENTION

The question was called and was sustained. The reso-
lution was adopted.

A motion was made to reconsider Res. 5-06. The con-
vention voted to do so.

An important question was raised as to whether the
proposed change would give the Board of Directors of
Synod increased authority over policies governing district
and/or college or seminary personnel. Dr. John Schuelke
responded on behalf of the Board of Directors by stating
that the resolution would not have the effect anticipated
in the question but would instead limit the role of the di-
rectors to advisory, with the exception of those serving at
the International Center.

The Chair called for the orders of the day. It was under-
stood that debate on Res. 5-06 would continue when Com-
mittee 5 came back to the podium.

G. Kuntz, convention chaplain.
