William Chandler I feel Concordia is a very necessary insti- tution in our Synod. We must continue to givea quality college education to our youth so they may serve the church as full time church workers, as well as competent Christians in secular positions. This is a challenge in the present economic situation. I would like to continue to serve Concordia to achieve this purpose. It is vital that we continue to supply the church with dedicated workers, fully committed to Scripture. We also have the opportunity through Concordia to develop a NOMINATIONS Christian perspective in those who will enter secular fields of service. Melvin H. Schroeder Warren Biermann I believe the Synod should continue the mission of Christ in bringing the saving Gospel to all people. The Synod needs to find a good fiscal policy in administering its program and continue a strong stewardship program started after the 1981 convention. Robert G. Horn The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod continues to be a doctrinally oriented church body drawing all its strength from the Word. Its institutions of higher learning are the key to the LCMS's continuation in God’s Word. The Synod is founded on a strong educational system. As a graduate of Concordia, Seward, I am convinced that strong seminaries and teacher's colleges can help the Synod achieve its goals. ] want to bea continuing part of that process. Paul J. Steiner I'm particularly interested in the new stewardship effort being piloted in the Nebraska District involving total stewardship of time. talents, money, etc. If it is firmly grounded in the Word of God, I have no doubt as to its success, not only in Nebraska but throughout the Synod. I believe the Synod should promote Christian day schools, Bible study, Bible study, and more Bible study (with programs to first instruct instructors in Lu- theran doctrine). With our church grounded in the pure Word of God in practice instead of just principle, total stewardship will no longer be an effort but a reality. Joyce Verrett Paul R. Dumke I pledge my faithfulness to the Synod. its doctrinal stance and its adherence to Scripture. Albert Hokamp I am particularly joyed with the direction the Synod has taken, with its major thrust on mission outreach, and now with the funds generated with the Forward in Remembrance. This thrust is now being implemented, and with the Lord’s blessing this will initiate a decade of true church growth. One of the several needs the Synod should emphasize is the training of its laity in evangelism and 301 persona] witnessing so the people they come in contact with in their daily lives may also share the joy of knowing Jesus Christ as their Savior: another is the need for sound Biblical doctrine to be taught in all our colleges and seminaries so the people training there will proclaim the pure doctrine throughout the Synod so we can again walk together and give a positive wit- ness to the world at home and abroad. Luth. H.S. Larry Bass St. John’s College is special to me. Our older daughter, Barbara. is an alumnus (1978). I also took young people from Trinity there for four years to attend “Career Weekends.” Sidney G. Beltz My hopes are to build the enrollment of St. John’s College, since we have been granted four-year status. The nursing program needs to find more qualified instructors to take care of those applicants wishing admission to the school. One thing that will definitely help this situation is to increase the salaries of our staff, as they can get more money outside our insti- tutions of education. We are working on an endowment fund that will help in this regard. Bob Hamann Ed Newcomer Elwood Zimmermann, Chairman
