We- greatly fear that another generation will tell a ferent tale. 8. When a nucleus of weak congregations in the south knocked at the door of our Synod in the year 1892, they bringing with them an educational institution, even though small} As fruits of that institution we still have many able pastors and many more consecrated laymen at work in the Church. 9. When in 1935 an effort was made to reduce the finangi burden of Synod by the elimination of four educational ins tions, the elimination of the lone weakest one, viz., Conover, N. Cy did not make even a noticeable change in the synodical budget! We are making no complaint about the retention of Springfielé’ Concordia, and Portland, but the history of our Church in the southeast territory during the past 15 years convinces us that the abandonment of Conover was a mistake, a mistake not too lak as yet to rectify. 40. In response to the calls of the church at large the con! gregations and. individuals of the southeast territory have bees making generous contributions both in finances and persona service, but unless an equitable distribution is made of the workinj units of the Church, it is only natural to suppose that this arde will cool in the course of time. 11. The time when our Church is inaugurating a “Building fa Tomorrow” program seems to be an appropriate time for S ra to give serious consideration to the advisability of re-establishit and maintaining 4 synodical educational institution in this soul eastern section of our country. Jn order to supply the future nee be a marked increase of the Church for men, there will have to production. An addition of one new school will naturally he to solve this problem. 12. We, therefore, members of the Conover Concor Alumni-ae Association, do petition The Lutheran Church —M souri Synod, in 1950 convention assembled in Milwaukee, ¥ to give serious and prayerful consideration to the re-establishm of such an institution in said territory.
