This recommendation is not intended by the AIAC to preclude further cooperation or consultation with the Indian Desk of LCUSA and the NILB, but rather to place the leadership and responsibility for the Synod’s total Indian ministry program with the AIAC. Potential Indian ministry projects may still be suggested by NILBtothe AIAC for LCMS funding. It is the conviction of the members of the AIAC, in view of synodical Res. 1-14A and the growing Indian leadership within the LCMS, that the time has come for the Synod to further implement a unified, indigenous “Word and Deed” Indian ministry program. Implementation of this recommendation will enable the AIAC and the Indian constituency in the LCMS to more effectively carry out their responsibilities as assigned in synodical Res. 1-14A (St. Louis 1979). The motion was made by Wiley Scott to approve and adopt this report and recommendation. The motion was seconded by Marvin Shurley. The motion was approved by unanimous vote, Dated: Jan. 16, 1981—Denver. Colo. Rev. Don Johnson David Black Marvin H. The report includes an important recommendation concerning the future direction of American Indian ministry in the Synod.
