The Scope By adult Christian education we mean every effort of th Church to increase and strengthen the religious knowledge of adult members, assist them in living a Christian life, help the solve their problems, and train them for more efficient service an, leadership in the Church. B. The Need 1. Adults in general need more adequate Bible knowledg stimulation for regular Bible study, and guidance in the study an use of the Bible. Many possess only a meager knowledge of Chris~’ tian doctrine; they have forgotten much of what they once learn and insufficient efforts have been made to build further upon th foundation that was laid in childhood. In many cases the serm is the only avenue of Christian teaching which is open to ad of our Church. The Church has spent too little effort upon plan of education for Christian faith, life, and service which carri along into mature years. 2. The newly confirmed adults need a program of continu training in the Bible and the teachings and practices of the L theran Church in order that they may become strong and well indoctrinated church members, Adult confirmands are. freque 5 not sufficiently grounded in al] matters pertaining to the Chris i faith and life, and special efforts should be made to instruct thi further by means of adult Bible classes or other study groups fg obvious reasons. . ‘ 3. Christian parents need help and training for establishi and maintaining Christian homes, solving family problems, and providing for the spiritual. needs of their children by giving the adequate Christian training in the home. The whole education 6 children and youth is a problem of parents and adults, and the should be given proper assistance by the Church. ; 4.
