Request for New Educational Building needed Educational Building on our campus. This request submitted already prior to 1938 and again in that year. but withdrawn at the time because of Synod’s financial status. this long-needed improvement. The new building is neces- y, first of all, in order to provide a suitable library. Our present ing room is a makeshift arrangement, badly misplaced on the d floor of our Administration Building, a building little used ‘classroom hours. It is a room inconvenient of access. It has ndows only at the two narrow ends. It lacks the space re- luired by books and periodicals already on hand, to say nothing future additions to our stock. It affords no provisions whatever a workroom or a browsing room. We are convinced that the mly way in which our needs can be adequately met is by the rection of a suitable building on our campus to house our library d related departments. We therefore again petition Synod to ppropriate the funds necessary for this purpose. The cost of this ject, according to our conservative estimate, would be approxi- tely eighty thousand dollars ($80,000). In addition to a library, we are also badly in need of a new id suitable classroom space for our science department. At pres- t three of our science laboratories are basement rooms with half dows. Facilities now at our disposal do not provide for ade- Equate classroom space, storage space, or workshop space. In conse- luence the number of students that can be accommodated in our ious science courses is decidedly limited. It is our intention to use our science department in the same building with our library r the sake of economy and convenience. However, we shall edefray all of the cost of that portion of the building used for science flaboratories, equipment, and related purposes through funds con- ributed by the members of our congregations located in the area ved by our school. . Our request, then, resolves itself into this: that Synod appro- riate $80,000 for the erection of a suitable library on our campus, ith the understanding that an amount at least equal to that sum raised by our local constituency to provide for additions to the \ding which shall contain our science department and whatever her features may be found necessary.
